In a rapidly changing world driven by globalization and rapid technological change, it’s in all of our best interest that every Californian receives the very best access to a quality education.

Josh Newman understands that our students cannot succeed if our schools do not have the resources they need. In the State Senate, we can count on Josh to fully fund our system of public education. He will also work to expand STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education, empower teachers, improve access to pre-school, and encourage more local control.

California’s public university system used to be the envy of the world, but tuition increases have jeopardized the affordability of a college education for many California families. As our State Senator, Josh Newman will fight the increases in tuition and expand financial aid programs for in-state students. He will also encourage the expansion of community college based job-training and apprenticeship programs.

Josh Newman is a veteran who served as a U.S. Army officer in South Korea after he graduated from Yale University. Following a career in high tech, Josh founded and now directs a not-for-profit organization, ArmedForce2Workforce, which helps young veterans in Southern California find career-oriented jobs.
