2016 Reed Awards: “We Have a Winner!”

Reed Awards Image

Every industry, no matter how soulless or cash-driven, has its version of the Oscars, and it turns out the political consulting industry is no exception. So imagine our surprise when we got an email a little while back from one of the partners at the consulting firm for my campaign. It was one of those Constant Contact-type deals with an image laid into the body of the email, trumpeting the fact that they’d just won not one but two Reed Awards, presented by the industry bible, Campaign & Elections magazine, at a swanky annual dinner in trendy Charleston, South Carolina:

Fletcher Rowley Email re Reed Awards

“They won an award for helping John Bel Edwards defeat David Vitter in Louisiana?,” I thought to myself. “That’s pretty cool.” Then my eye drifted to the other side of the page. Darned if those cute kids by the lake didn’t look oddly familiar. And danged if that didn’t look a little like our little campaign blimp. As it happens, their other winner in this year was for what I can only assume was the hotly contested category of “Best Web Video for a State Legislative Candidate” was actually about from our campaign, bringing them one of their two Reedies (or however it’s referred to in industry parlance).

You can watch the award-winning video by clicking on the image below:

Kelsey and Blimp with Play ButtonSo there you go: no matter what happens from here, we’re already winners.
